City Meets Country, Quaint Meets Chic at The Cavalier San Francisco

The Cavalier is situated by Hotel Zetta, and has its entrance on a little side street under a red awning where you will be greeted by a handsome stallion statue. This is the latest venture of Chef Jennifer Pucio with Anna Weinberg and James Nicholas renowned for their successful ventures Marlowe and Park Tavern. The restaurant and bar offers four different themed dining areas designed by Ken Fulk. The sophisticated and chic Blue Bar with its beautiful zinc bar lit by lanterns shaped like a wizard’s hat is definitely stunning. Crimson banquettes and black tables under a canopy of lampshades make the Main Dining area undeniably elegant. Scenes depicting the excitement of the hunt line the walls of the Wine Room while the cozy Rail Car is stacked with interesting odds and ends, literary and otherwise. Animal heads mounted on the walls watch as you feast on Chef Pucio’s creations based on English pub fare. Venison Tartare, Fish and Chips, Deviled Egg and Rock Shrimp, Wild Mushroom Pie, and House cured bocquerones with dill and mushroom and Quail egg Mayo are but a few of the mouthwatering dishes which will leave you gloriously satiated. Cocktails with names like The Barrister, Pimm’s Cup or White Lady showcase the inventive cocktail menu which is yet another highlight. In a space where cocktail dresses and jeans intermingle comfortably as the staff pampers you with its excellent service, The Cavalier is sure to be an instant favorite.
