A Chinese Moon Festival Celebration

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a popular harvest festival celebrated by the Chinese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar during full moon, close to the autumnal equinox. Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco is bringing the celebrations to our guests with a reception of inspired cocktails, featured wines from the collection of Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Chinese delicacies and cuisine culminating the evening with a viewing of the full moon from our 40th floor outdoor SkyDeck. The festival is an occasion for reunions among friends and relatives to eat mooncakes and admire the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity. The esteemed Koi Palace restaurant will be offering traditional mooncake tasting to all guests at the event, a hallmark tradition of this festival and a symbol of completeness and unity of families.
