By Annabelle Marceno Pericin

Opera lovers got serenaded by international tenor Christopher Bengochea of the Livermore Valley Opera (Don Jose in LVO latest production of Carmen) at Neiman Marcus’ fashion gathering in Walnut Creek last Thursday, October 17. Benogochea kicked off the fashion show with Phantom of the Opera’s “The Music of the Night” and Pagliacci’s “Vesti La Giubba” setting the mood for the the Fall/Winter 2013 Special Occasion collection fashion show.

Neiman Marcus Walnut Creek General Manager, Jaime Broadhurst introduced this season’s fashion trends of red as the “new neutral” and the ultraviolets being fall’s standout hue. The dramatic Lace Noir collection defined black lace as the season’s new black featuring designer Tadashi Shoji. The pointed toe pump complemented the festive and elegant designs pairing shoes and handbags in this season’s trends of animal prints and rocker chic. Neiman Marcus highlights how fashion and the arts are costars in any production.

Kicking off the 2013-2014 season in the fall with Bizet’s Carmen to sold out crowds, the Livermore Valley Opera is looking forward to their spring performances of Rossini’s Cinderella March 15, 16, 22 & 23, 2014. “Rossini’s story of Cinderella is the early version before Disney’s,” explains Stephanie Petermeier on the LVO Board of Directors. “In Rossini’s version, Cinderella has a stepfather instead of a stepmother and she loses her bracelet instead of a glass slipper. We are looking forward to sharing his version.”
