Holiday Tea Under The Tree at Scala’s Bistro

This year, the iconic and newly-renovated Sir Francis Drake Hotel is reinstating a beloved holiday tradition, it’s “Tea Under the Tree,” revamped and ready for the 2013 holiday season!  Located in San Francisco’s most spirited holiday locale of Union Square, Sir Francis Drake transforms its Mezzanine Level into a winter wonderland with rich red and gold accents, a roaring fire and, most notably, a festive 27-foot Christmas Tree.  New Scala’s Bistro Chef Larry Finn and Pastry Chef Kimberly Bugler have decked out a traditionally-inspired holiday tea service for both families with children, and celebratory couples and groups, alike.

The traditional tea service, served with Mighty Leaf Teas, includes a glass of Champagne per person; assorted Tea Breads including Pumpkin Scones and Cranberry Walnut Scones; assorted Tea Sandwiches including Smoked Salmon on Pumpernickel with Dill Cream Fraiche and Wasabi Tobiko and Roast Beef with Horseradish Cream and Curly Cress; and assorted sweets with a decidedly festive sensibility!  Think: Petit Four Presents, Candy Cane Meringues, and Carrot Cake Madeleines.

With kids in mind…

For those younger holiday revelers, a special tea service will include a Grilled Cheese Panini, Nutella Banana Sandwich, and PB&J, along with European-Style Drinking Chocolate with House made Whipped Cream and Fresh Vanilla Marshmallows.  And that’s not all!  Every child sitting down to tea will be greeted with an Unadorned Gingerbread Person Cookie and all the accoutrements – Royal Icing and Assorted Decorations – to decorate it!

Things to celebrate with…
