Region Restaurant will carry you into an exotic space, surrounded by an illuminated bamboo forest and the heavenly scents of South Asian cuisine. The atmosphere couldn’t be more charming and relaxing and is supported by a variety of music accompanied by an inviting fireplace.
The owner, Kiet Truong, could not be more engaging, while recounting his early life as a young man in Vietnam, to his adventures arriving in San Francisco. His parents actually run Regions sister restaurant here in the city on Union street, called Unicorn. His extensive background in the restaurant business, prepared him to open Region, located at 139 Steuart Street. As for the food, well, the creative presentation and mastery of spice, leaves you craving more. The use of locally sourced ingredients, allows for an exquisite dining experience.
The menu selection is extensive and offers something for everyone, be it beef, pork, poultry or seafood. They offer a good selection of noodle soups and some great starters like the “Beijing Duck” which is seasoned and roasted everyday. There are plenty of vegetarian options and gluten-free is available. Region’s prices are reasonable and the servings are bountiful.
An accomplished and varietal wine list is available and other alcoholic beverages may be enjoyed at their gastro bar which also includes indoor and outdoor seating for your comfort and enjoyment.
