A great San Francisco Christmas tradition is well under way at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins as it celebrates its annual Holiday Tea starting on Friday, November 28, 2014. This time of the year is a busy one for all with holiday festivities, shopping, decorating, baking and wrapping – it all seems so overwhelming at times.  Why not take a breather from all that hoopla and visit the Top of the Mark for some flavorful fine teas while enjoying sweet and savory bites as offered by Executive Chef Nenad Stefanovic and Pastry Chef Phoung Vuong, all while marveling at the 360-degree vista of San Francisco with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands!

I recently had the privilege of meeting InterContinental Mark Hopkins’ new General Manager, Maarten P. Drench, who shared his enthusiasm for the holiday merriment being offered at the Mark Hopkins beginning at the end of November all throughout the month of December.  Top of the Mark offers a traditional “Holiday Tea” where guests enjoy a 3-Tier Presentation of freshly baked scones served with Devonshire cream and lemon curd, finger sandwiches, and delectable mini desserts, all to be enjoyed while sipping from a selection of fine teas.  The “Magical Holiday Tea” for kids is an amusing family-friendly event not to be missed.  It is packed with memorable activities such as a cookie decorating station, magic show, face painting, a fire engine display, and visits from Santa Claus.  Guests are offered an array of both sweet and savory tea sandwiches as well as special items from the kitchen including Kobe beef sliders, meatball kabobs, and bacon Monte Cristo finger sandwiches.  Kids can indulge in a selection of popular kids’ treats and finger foods including pigs in a blanket, macaroni and cheese, and chicken nuggets.  An elaborate dessert buffet includes the traditional Christmas Yule Log, fresh fruit tartlets, homemade marshmallows, and more.

Indeed, a great holiday tradition continues at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins and is sure to delight guests with the pampering and dazzling Christmas décor – a Mark Hopkins signature!  For more information or to make reservations, please visit
