Upcoming Dinner Series at Wente Vineyards feat. Jen Biesty, Gayle Pirie, Tanya Holland & Joanne Weir

Wente Vineyards, the country’s oldest continuously operated, family-owned winery, is excited to announce the lineup for The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards’ Guest Chef Dinner Series 2015: The Chef & The Winemaker – A Celebration of the Bay Area’s Most Acclaimed Women Chefs. Beginning in April 2015, The Restaurant will welcome four highly acclaimed female chefs to share their culinary expertise, passion and vision. Guests will be treated to an intimate dining experience prepared exclusively by the evening’s visiting chef, including a welcome reception of wine and hors d’oeuvres and a seated four-course dinner, with each course being paired with Wente Vineyards’ award-winning wine. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to speak with the evening’s chef as well as members of the Wente family.

Wente Vineyards will launch the first dinner in this series on Thursday, April 30 when they welcome Jen Biesty, Executive Chef and Co-owner of Shakewell (Oakland, CA), a 2015 Michelin Guide Recommended restaurant. Prior to opening Shakewell, Biesty worked for some of the best chefs in the business, including Traci des Jardins, Richard Reddington, and Jamie Oliver. She was a contestant on Top Chef Season 4, was a recent guest on Beat Bobby Flay, and was named a StarChefs “Rising Star” in 2007.

On Thursday, June 4, The Restaurant will host Gayle Pirie, a fixture of culinary excellence in the Bay Area. Pirie is Chef and Co-owner of some of San Francisco’s most beloved restaurants – Foreign Cinema, Show Dogs, and Lazlo – as well as a James Beard Award nominee. Her restaurant, Foreign Cinema, received mention from Newsweek for Best Outdoor Dining and by Bon Appétit for Knockout Brunch. She is also the author of two cookbooks, Country Egg, City Egg and Bride & Groom Cookbook.

This Fall, The Restaurant will host acclaimed chef Tanya Holland on September 10. Tanya Holland is the author of two cookbooks: New Soul Cooking: Updating a Cuisine Rich in Flavor and Tradition and Brown Sugar Kitchen Cookbook. She is a regular guest on the Today Show and The Talk, as well as host of Melting Pot on The Food Network & The Cooking Channel. Holland owns Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland, CA which features her inventive takes on modern soul food, Southern, and barbecue. In 2013, she was named California Chef of the Year. Holland will offer guests a one-of-a-kind experience when she showcases her talents at The Restaurant.

James Beard Award Winner Joanne Weir will conclude the Wente Guest Chef Dinner Series on November 12. Weir hosts a national cooking series called Joanne Weir Gets Fresh airing on PBS television. She is also co-owner of Copita Tequileria y Comida, a modern Mexican restaurant and tequileria in Sausalito, CA. In 2014, Copita was named Best Mexican Restaurant in the Bay Area by 7×7 Magazine. Weir is also the author of numerous books including TEQUILA: A Guide to Types; Flights, Cocktails and Bites; Weir Cooking in the City; From Tapas to Meze, and Cooking Confidence.
