Jackie Greene Discovered at an open-mike night when Dig Music’s owner happened to be there, singer/songwriter Jackie Greene is a captivating performer who works well in simple, sparse environments. Signing to the label almost immediately, the California native worked countless clubs and bars before his discovery, a fact made more interesting when considering that he was a teenager at the time. A multi-instrumentalist, Greene played most of the instruments on his debut record, Gone Wanderin’. A soulful bit of roots music, the album brought him to a national audience and sprung him into a college tour during the fall of 2002. After having released a number of albums over the following years, Jackie then took time out to perform with supergroups Trigger Hippy (with Joan Osborne and the Black Crowes’ Steve Gorman), acoustic trio WRG (with Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir and the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson), and Phil Lesh & Friends, and joined the Black Crowes from 2013 until they disbanded in 2015. Greene then returned to the studio to record his seventh album and the life cycle-themed Back to Birth was released in August 2015 on Yep Roc.
Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers “Our music definitely hearkens another era,” says Nicki Bluhm, “but at the same time, we want it to be contemporary. Reflective of now even though it nods to other times. We want it to be vintage modern.” With Loved Wild Lost, released in April of 2015, Little Sur recording group Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers fully affirm a current place in the long winding continuum of the California Sound, born of folk, rock, country, psychedelia, blues, and pop, as ageless, adventurous, and ever-adaptive as the Golden State itself.
Nicole Atkins Internationally acclaimed American musician Nicole Atkins is a rare artist whose timeless songwriting and raw, emotional voice spans the ages. The miasma of faded glamour and nostalgic pop noir of her critically lauded début album, Neptune City (2007), secured her place in Rolling Stone’s “Top 10 Artists To Watch,” where they praised her “voice full of longing and Loretta Lynn elegance.” In addition to a busy touring schedule, Nicole’s television appearances have included “The Late Show with David Letterman”, “Conan”, and “Later… with Jools Holland”. She has been featured in dozens of magazines and newspapers, ranging from the New York Times to The Guardian (UK) to Time magazine.
Jason Crosby Jason Crosby had an auspicious musical beginning at the age of 2 when he started playing the violin, and as a young boy, immersed himself in classical music, playing piano at a professional level. He took on the guitar, viola, French horn and trumpet and pursued those instruments with equal vigor for many years. A multi-instrumentalist with extensive and varied musical pursuits, Crosby has been a member of such bands as Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Susan Tedeschi Band, and has played on dozens of albums and toured with members of the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, and the Meters. Crosby has also toured with Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Pete Seeger, the Blind Boys of Alabama and Dave Mathews.
Elliott Peck is a singer, songwriter and musician originally from the Midwest, who currently resides in San Francisco, California. Growing up near Chicago, IL, the Chicago style blues have always had an influence on her writing, playing and singing. After moving to California, she fell in love with the California country sound, which now is a presence in much of her songwriting. She has sung and performed with many notable musicians in the Bay Area and beyond including, Phil Lesh, Greg Loiacono and Tim Blum of The Mother Hips, Nicki Bluhm and Daren Ney, Jackie Greene, and Danny Click and the Hell Yeahs.
