Food truck aficianados, the drought is over! Off the Grid Markets kicks off its seventh season at Fort Mason Center on Friday, March 3rd. Debuting a brand new layout for 2017, the rotating lineup will feature 13 food trucks and 15 open-air kitchen vendors, including local favorites A 16, Senor Sisig, The Chairman, Jeepney Guy, and Johnny Doughnuts. Seventeen new vendors join this year’s market including Tia Chi Jianbing, Chef Yaku, Aburaya Japanese, Revenge Pie, Capelo’s BBQ, and Turnt Up Tacos & Tortas. Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center will also introduce a rotating booth staffed by entrepreneurs from Off the Grid’s two year mobile incubator program Instrucktional. Inspired by night markets in Asia and Morocco, Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center will return every Friday night, from 5-10 p.m. March through October.

The revamped layout includes additional seating in two main sections: one area focused on openness (family-friendly communal dining, drinking, as well as music and dancing), the other area focused on more intimate experiences (semi-private gathering areas). Centered in the action will be a large bar offering craft cocktails, local wines, and more from San Francisco-favorite Rye on the Road. Protection will be provided in the event of inclement weather.

Off the Grid has made it easier than ever for some of San Francisco’s best restaurants to bring their cuisine to the masses at Fort Mason Center as tented vendors. In the past, the lineup has remained the same but this year, Off the Grid is introducing a rotation of trucks every other week.

“The focus this year is all about putting the food front and center and allowing vendors and customers to easily connect the best food we’ve ever offered,” says Off the Grid Founder, Matt Cohen. “We’re working with the vendors to focus on narrower menus that strongly reinforce choices that are the best of what they do.”

New tented vendor additions include popular Inner Sunset pop-up Tai Chi Jianbing serving their Chinese street food style omelette, jianbing as a tented vendor. Typically available only at Nabe Restaurant during limited hours, Tai Chi Jianbing will offer its cuisine outside of the restaurant for the first time at Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center.

“We choose a mix of established restaurants like A16, along with up-and-coming food entrepreneurs who we believe in and give them a venue to test their concept – allowing them to further define their brand,” explains Cohen.

Instrucktional at Fort Mason Center

For the first time, Instrucktional participants will have a spot at Fort Mason Center this year. Instrucktional is Off the Grid’s 24-month, paid incubator program to empower food entrepreneurs interested in launching a mobile food concept. Participants are trained in every aspect of the mobile food business from menu development and execution, to branding, marketing, business management and more. This year at Fort Mason Center, rotating Instrucktional entrepreneurs will be a part of the vendor lineup, selling their unique menu items to the public for the first time. Instrucktional vendors will rotate to showcase all of the students who are a part of the program. The first will be Postrique from Elizabeth Miranda, who will be the first graduate from the Instrucktional program and has created a unique concept featuring sweet and savory churros.

Back by popular demand, DJ DSHARP, the official DJ of the Golden State Warriors, along with Sacramento-based 9-piece ensemble, Idea Team, will be kicking off the season. Every subsequent Friday night will feature a live DJ from 5:00-7:30 p.m. and live bands from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
