Valpolicella: From Prawns to Prada, It Goes with Everything

At a recent tasting event in San Francisco, California, GEV met with Olga Bussinello, Director of Consorzio per la Tutela dei Vini Valpolicella, to learn about the spectacular wines of the Veneto region of Italy. The Valpolicella appellation produces four noteworthy wine types using Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes: Valpolicella DOC, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG and Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG. Since Valpolicella wines are made from the same indigenous grape varieties, it is the winemaking techniques that set them apart from each other and from other noteworthy Italian wines.
