The Chocolatier Blue Parlor is now open in the heart of Berkeley’s upscale Fourth Street shopping district. With a kitchen headed up by Pasty Chef Danyelle Forte and enhancements to the space previously home to a Chocolatier Blue chocolate shop, the venue has become a premier destination for those seeking gourmet ice cream and ice cream based treats.

Comments proprietor Christopher Blue, “I’ve known for a while that this location had unrealized potential and saw in Chef Forte the prefect opportunity to deliciously expand and upgrade what we do.”

Forte’s offerings, both classic and unusual, and her creative blending of savory and sweet, result in an ice cream experience that is second to none. She uses market-fresh, often locally sourced and organic ingredients to hand craft her menu items and all her mix-ins and herb and juice-based flavor components are prepared on the premises. The debut Parlor menu includes sundaes, shakes, floats and freezes. Current ice cream flavors, which change monthly, include Young Ginger; Goats Milk with Ennis Hazelnuts; Sweet Lime with Lemon Thyme; and Green Apple Yuzu; plus Blood Orange with Rose Geraniums sherbet.

Unchanged is the availability of award-winning Chocolatier Blue chocolates, a selection of specialty cookies, and hot chocolate and coffee.

Chef Forte, now 30 years old, is a California native and a graduate of the California School of Culinary Arts, Le Cordon Bleu. Before settling in the Bay Area, she worked in high profile restaurants such as 1500 Ocean at the Del Coronado Hotel (San Diego), Alain Ducasse’s Michelin 3-star Adour at the St. Regis Hotel (New York), L’Atelier De Joel Robuchon at the Four Seasons Hotel (New York), DB Bistro Modern (New York), and John Besh’s Restaurant August (New Orleans).

Highlights of The Parlor decor, recently enhanced, include a fanciful pastel yellow, blue and pink stripes color scheme, a chandelier, engaging signage, an awning, and, later this spring, built-in seating on the heated patio. A Facebook presence for The Parlor has been designed to facilitate participation in a customer loyalty rewards program.

Chocolatier Blue has received considerable customer and critical acclaim since the first Bay Area retail store location opened in Berkeley in 2008. In a recent Best of the Bay annual poll conducted by the East Bay Express newspaper, Chocolatier Blue received “Best Locally Made Chocolates” honors.

The Chocolatier Blue Parlor is located at 1809 Fourth Street, between Virginia and Hearst, in Berkeley, California, and is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Call (510) 665-9500 or visit the Chocolatier Blue website at www.chocolatierblue.com for further information.
