Bossa Napa – Bebel Gilberto Brings Brazil To Napa

The vibrant colors, lively music and tempting flavors of Brazil transform the Napa Valley Opera House on September 29 with Bossa Nova Napa, the non-profit theater’s annual Gala. Honorary Chair Beth Nickel, proprietress of Nickel & Nickel and Far Niente Wineries, will host approximately 130 guests for a memorable evening. The event opens with a reception on the Opera House Plaza beginning at 5pm featuring a Caipirinha cocktail bar, live Brazilian dancers, music by DJ Boca Negra and a magnum auction. Guests then move into the Margrit Biever Mondavi Theatre for a performance by internationally acclaimed and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Bebel Gilberto, daughter of Bossa Nova founder Joao Gilberto. 2012 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the iconic Bossa Nova tune, “Girl From Ipanema.” What better way to celebrate than in festive Brazilian style, benefitting the historic, nonprofit Napa Valley Opera House.

Following Bebel’s performance, guests will move downstairs to the Café Theatre, for a Gala dinner prepared by Chef Ken Frank of La Toque Restaurant paired with Nickel & Nickel, Far Niente and Dolce wines. A lavish array of live auction items will be offered, ranging from a prestigious collection of magnums from female winemakers and decadent winery parties to once-in-a-lifetime trips to Italy, France and Hawai’i.
