Designer Patis Tesoro Headlines PIA’S Annual Fashion Show and Fundraiser

Patis Tesoro, famous for her line of exquisitely embroidered and beaded pina gowns, colorful appliquéd and beaded ternos and hand-painted and embroidered barongs , will be the featured designer at Philippine International Aid’s (PIA) “Holiday Haute Couture XI, “ a luncheon show on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Hyatt EmbarcaderoWells Fargo is the main sponsor.  Philippine Airlines donated the airfare of the designer and choreographer and Galleria Park Hotel is providing the accommodations.

Tesoro inherited her love for fashion from her mother, Nena Poblador Fabella de Pamintuan, who had a dress shop catering to her friends.  She remembers designing clothes even as a young girl, but turned this passion into a career when she married lawyer, Tito Tesoro.  During President Ramos’ term, Patis was president of Katutubong Filipino Foundation (KFF) that strived to revitalize the dying ethnic crafts and create employment.  Patis has also gone into designing homes, landscaping and gardening.

Philippine International Aid (PIA) is on its 26th year of providing educational assistance to impoverished and disadvantaged Filipino youth in the Philippines and in the San Francisco Bay Area.  PIA enrolls approximately 2,000 children every year from grade school to college.  PIA is a volunteer organization.
