Meals on Wheels 26th Annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala

James Beard Award-winner Nancy Oakes (Boulevard | Prospect) returns for her 10th year as Gala Chair to lead an illustrious lineup of Northern California chefs as Meals On Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) announces the 26th Annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala.  This year’s Gala will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. Star Chefs & Vintners Gala is MOWSF’s main source of contributions for the year, which enables the organization to serve one of the city’s most vulnerable populations – homebound seniors.

Executive Chef Nancy Oakes of Boulevard Restaurant

“The need for the services provided by Meals on Wheels of San Francisco continues to grow dramatically as the baby boomers age,” says Ashley McCumber, MOWSF Executive Director. “In the past five years we have seen a 47% growth in client meals in our community. We are grateful for the generous support of renowned chefs, wineries and corporate sponsors. It is because of them that we are able to provide almost 1.1 million every year to the growing population of homebound seniors in San Francisco.”

More than 100 notable chefs from several of Northern California’s top restaurants join Oakes to create the ultimate celebration of food, wine and cocktails. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with an hors d’oeuvre and wine reception, featuring creations from more than 40 chefs and wineries, followed by a three-course, sit-down meal. Each of the Gala’s 10 seating sections will have a unique, carefully orchestrated menu, with each course designed by a different executive chef.
