Wine Wednesday with Wine707

Michael has been very busy navigating wine country these days. With the early bloom of the mustard fields and the sweet pinkish blush of the cherry trees, Napa has been one busy Winter for tourists and visitors. Today, we showcase three of his recently visited spots in the valley.

Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley

The setting is reminiscent of a home or a private club, framing a highly edited collection of furnishings and artwork. The furnishings, ranging from 16th century to mid-twentieth century, are paired with contemporary works crafted by today’s top designers. The collections of art on display include Napa Valley favorites, the best in the Bay Area as well as some of the most respected names worldwide, all of which will be available for purchase.

Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley offers a unique lifestyle experience in wine country. Originally built in 1904 as a private residence, the manor is one of three stone buildings in Yountville, and one of only two listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

O’Shaughnessy Winery

They believe that architecture should flow harmoniously with the environment, enhancing the beauty of the land, not detracting from it. With this as their guide, they chose stone for the exterior, to blend with the color and texture of their mountainside. Their architect then tied the stone and glass structure closely to the hillside, making the building blend perfectly with their site. The fermentation room houses state of the art tanks, architectural in their shape, yet maximized for function. They integrated glass wherever possible in order to bring the beauty of the Howell Mountain into their living and working spaces.

The landscape design blurs the line between the untouched and planned. Olives, rosemary and lavender frame the views with accents of colors throughout the verandas. O’Shaughnessy winery’s outside dining space blends seamlessly with the hillside – a lovely place to picnic.

Von Strasser Winery

A visit to von Strasser winery is truly a unique experience. As you drive up Diamond Mountain Road, you leave the valley floor and the crowds behind you and enter a property which many describe as “early Californian.” However, the beauty of the setting is second only to the quality of the wine and personalized attention you will receive. During your visit, you will learn about our winery and be able to taste and purchase unique, single-vineyard bottlings which are rarely available in the marketplace.
