CHAYA Brasserie San Francisco Celebrates Cherry Blossom Season April 5-21, 2013

CHAYA Brasserie San Francisco celebrates the anticipation of spring with a limited time-engagement, featuring a hanami-inspired menu of small plates, specialty dishes, and libations by Executive Chef Yuko Kajino. The celebration will kick off on Friday, April 5and run through Sunday, April 21, 2013. In its 101st year since Tokyo gifted Washington D.C. with 3,000 cherry trees, the festivities are centered on celebrating “Kaika,” the opening of the first cherry blossom.

Celebrating this limited engagement for its second year; CHAYA Brasserie San Francisco will offer a special three-course prix-fixe menu for $42/person along with an assortment of sushi rolls and small bites in the bar. CHAYA’s dining room and outdoor patio will be decorated with sweeping boughs of cherry blossoms and seasonal themed décor transporting diners to the vibrant and festive scenes commonly found throughout Japan.   Dishes on the menu include:

  • Sakura Dai Roll with crab, avocado, cucumber, shiso, umeboshi Aioli  and sakura (the leaf from the cherry blossom tree)
  • Miso Ahi Tuna Tartare with salted nori, shiso, uni, pickled jicama, and pine nuts
  • Massaged Kale & Smoked Tofu Salad with avocado, red onion, yamagobo, peanuts ponzu dressing
  • Oak Wood Grilled Hanger Steak with cauliflower puree, maitake mushrooms, spring rapini, kurozu Jus
  • Wasabi Edamame encrusted  Local Petrale Sole with nori fregula pasta, pea shoots, pancetta and sake clam jus
  • Green Tea Ice Cream Monaka
