SPQR Welcomes Celebrated St. Louis Chef Gerard Craft on April 18

SPQR’s Executive Chef Matthew Accarrino is teaming up with award-winning Chef Gerard Craft, executive chef and owner of Niche, Pastaria, Taste by Niche, and Brasserie by Niche in St. Louis, Missouri, Accarrino’s hometown, for a guest-chef dinner on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Chef Craft will create a special three-course a la carte menu showcasing his creative, yet simple modern Midwest cuisine. This is a unique opportunity for guests to enjoy Chef Craft’s innovative interpretations of the best of local ingredients alongside the modern Italian cuisine of Chef Accarrino.

Complementing the menu, Wine Director/Owner Shelley Lindgren offers a well-curated list of Italian wines that highlight the little-known grapes and producers from central and northern Italy.

Chef Gerard Craft, a four-time James Beard Best Chef: Midwest finalist, and Food & Wine Best New Chef, has become a pioneer in the St. Louis dining scene. As a Midwest transplant from Washington, D.C., Chef Craft highlights what he refers to as Missouri’s “humble” ingredients. Chef Craft is again up for the prestigious James Beard Award this May, and he has had a busy year opening his fourth concept of Pastaria, his most casual concept to date celebrating “the truth” in Italian cuisine, and the new location of his flagship fine dining concept, Niche.
