Cuvée S&P Pinot Noir 2011 Release Event on Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco’s SkyDeck

Join Brasserie S&P as they release their new Cuvée S&P Pinot Noir 2011. Reflecting California’s vast Sonoma Coast, Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and Red Car Winery joined forces to create their 2011 Pinot Noir, Cuvée S&P, which adds another fine private label wine to the Group’s selection of preexisting vintages. Honoring Mandarin Oriental’s inspired sommeliers, chefs and mixologists, the name Cuvée S&P stands for “Small & Powerful”, the combined aspects of our boutique establishments yet significantly impactful food and beverage program in the industry. Crafting this wine in a small amount and with a small prestigious winery thereby producing a complex and powerful wine also compliments the namesake.

Winemaking Notes

To create this perfectly blended Pinot Noir private label, expert sommeliers from our San Francisco Mandarin Oriental property spent two days in the Sonoma Coast tasting barrels of varying lots and clones from the Pinot Noir grape at Red Car. In the end, Cuvée S&P is made up of 2 single vineyard sites on the Sonoma Coast in proportions of 85% Yafa Vineyard, 10% Myers Vineyard – West section and 5% Myers at the ‘Heart’ of the vineyard which expressed each its own unique characteristics alone. The Pinot Noir clones planted in these vineyards are Dijon Clones 115, 667 and 777.

Tasting notes

  • The wine is a bright garnet in color.
  • Floral notes and cherry are immediately present on the nose, followed by red fruits and apples on the palate, with balanced acidity and with a very smooth velvety finish.
  • Floral and spice notes include violet which carry through the front palate with nutmeg and thyme.
  • Earth and Mineral notes reflect the rich, volcanic soil of the vineyard sites.


This Pinot Noir private label is only available at Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and only 50 cases were made.
