Diciannove: Crowne Plaza London

The new Italian restaurant, deli and cicchetti bar opens tomorrow in Blackfriars’ Crowne Plaza London – The City Hotel. Executive chef is Alessandro Bay who trained under Michelin-starred Giorgio Locatelli. Expect authentic seasonal Italian dishes plus a drinks list featuring a range of aperitivo Campari and Aperol cocktails.

The 120-cover restaurant, split between the main dining area, deli, bar and a private dining space, has been designed by specialist agency, Brand Architects. It boasts an illuminated glass-fronted bar, chestnut leather seating, oak tables and upholstered banquettes. A floating halo lit ceiling raft is suspended over a high table and stools in the main dining area.

The menu features antipasto, freshly made pasta and risotto alongside a range of grills and salads. Also available throughout the day and for after-work aperitivo is a wide range of sharing dishes including artisan Italian meats and cheeses, homemade pickles, freshly baked breads and fritti dishes such as prawns, calamari and zucchini.

Signature drinks include a selection of ‘twisted negronis’ (such as rhubarb cocktails), Italian and London craft beers plus an exclusively Italian wine list. A wide range of digestives and grappa also feature.

Diciannove is the latest addition Crowne Plaza London – The City Hotel’s collection of restaurants and bars which also include the Chinese Cricket Club Sichuan restaurant and Voltaire, the venue’s cocktail and Champagne bar that comes omplete with its own private vaults.
