Bay Area Lyme Foundation’s 2nd Annual Polo for Lyme Benefit and Pride & Joy Concert

Bay Area Lyme Foundation will host its second annual Polo for Lyme benefit on Sunday, October 13th from 12:00 to 5:00p.m at the Menlo Polo Club in Atherton, adjacent to the Menlo Circus Club with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Bay Area Lyme Foundation.

The benefit will feature an action-packed afternoon of polo, champagne, gourmet luncheon, auctions, fine wines, and live performances by Bay Area favorite Pride & Joy and world-renowned violinist Carlos Reyes. The event will be emceed by CeCe Sammy, vocal and performance coach and TV presenter, and Don Bleu, 103.7’s Morning Show Host.

“ There is so much that we don’t know about Lyme disease” Don Bleu, Morning Show Host of 103.7 said,  “that an event like this can really fund some beneficial research.”

The benefit will also include polo traditions including a hat parade and competition, judged by TV personality and hat extraordinaire, Jan Wahl, and champagne divot stomp. The VIP tent will feature the 49er game on flat-screen TVs, and refreshments from sponsors, Laughing Glass Cocktails, Hint Water, Vinesse, La Marca, and Santé Nuts. In support of Polo for Lyme Benefit, Disney Channel star Amber Lily and Olympic Skier Angeli Vanlaanen will be in attendance.

“I can’t think of a better way to support such an underfunded cause,” Jan Wahl, CBS San Francisco TV personality said, “it’s an exciting day filled with fun events and live music, with 100% of proceeds going directly to Bay Area Lyme Foundation. Happy to be judging the hat competition and be donating my own hat to the cause.”

The Polo for Lyme Benefit is sponsored by Maserati of Silicon Valley who in addition to having two of their beautiful Italian thoroughbred cars , the New Quattroporte and the MC Convertible, adorning the entry way, is donating an exciting Maserati weekend package for auction.

Bay Area Lyme Foundation opened its doors in 2012 after a group of Portola Valley, CA friends noticed that Lyme disease had affected an alarming number of members in the local community. The Polo for Lyme benefit aims to spread awareness and educate the Bay Area community about Lyme disease, and raise funds for groundbreaking research and education programs. The Foundation collaborates with world-class research organizations in Silicon Valley and nationwide to identify ways to eliminate the disease and provide reliable information about the importance of prevention and early treatment.

“Not only is it going to be a fabulous, fun filled afternoon,” said Ana Thompson, Executive Director of the Bay Area Lyme Foundation, “but Polo for Lyme will truly help us in our mission to make Lyme disease easy to diagnose and simple to cure.”

Lyme disease is one of the country’s fastest growing infectious diseases, with over 300,000 new cases a year. In California, the Western black-legged tick which transmits Lyme and other infections ahs been found in all but two counties.
