San Franciscan Foodies Should Head South this March for the Food + Wine Festival Palm Desert

From Friday, March 21-Sunday, March 23, San Francisco chef Matthew Accarrino heads south to the California desert to participate in the Food + Wine Festival Palm Desert. He will be joined by fellow nationally recognized culinary personalities (Roy Choi, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, David LeFevre, and Bay Area native Valerie Gordon to name a few) as they take part in live demonstrations and grand tastings featuring over 50 restaurants and 70 wineries (including many from Sonoma County). Additional wine and craft beer seminars round out the three day festival creating the ultimate foodie’s paradise. Events include:

  • Chef Matt Accarinno of SPQRJames Beard Luncheon, Friday, March 21 – A four-course gourmet luncheon featuring Matthew Accarrino and fellow James Beard-recognized chefs David LeFevre, Brooke Williamson, and Gale Gand. Guests can enjoy wines poured by Wine Australia in addition to wines from select Golden State vintners.
  • “California Dreamin” Grand Tasting, Saturday, March 22 – A celebration of the sunny California lifestyle, this Grand Tasting event is an ode to local chef talent, homegrown wineries, and craft brewers. Over 50 restaurants and 70 premium wineries, brewers, and spirits purveyors will be showcased against the musical backdrop of a quintessential California soundtrack. Guests can look forward to a stellar lineup of over ten live culinary demonstrations, including local Coachella Valley chefs, as well as cookbook author and chefValerie Gordon of Valerie Confections. Each demonstration takes place on one of four state-of-the-art, fully equipped kitchen stages. Gordon will also be available for signings of her new cookbook, Sweet.   • Sunday, March 23 – “Brunch, Bubbles, and Brews” Grand Tasting Sunday rounds out the festivities with the best of brunch fare, served alongside free-flowing Champagne, sparkling wine, and standout microbrews from the Coachella Valley and beyond. As with Saturday, participants include over 50 restaurants and 70 premium wineries, brewers, and spirits purveyors. Chef demonstrations will include Roy Choi and Ari Taymor, alongside celebrated favorites from the local desert dining scene.
