Must-Try Cocktails for Negroni Week
Today marks the beginning of a week-long celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails with proceeds raised from Negroni sales going to charity. In honor of Negroni Week (June 6- 12), we’d like to share what some of San Francisco’s restaurants and bars are doing to celebrate – from special variations of negroni’s to a South Indian inspired negroni and Negroni Popcorn!

DOSA The popular South Indian restaurant is adding a special addition to their spice-route cocktail menu for Negroni Week – the Van Gogh (named after a famous absinthe drinker). The special negroni cocktail is made with Hendrick’s Gin, Campari, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, St. George Absinthe. The cocktail is $12 and $1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to the American Indian Foundation.

Poggio Trattoria There’s no better place to celebrate Negroni Week than with Poggio’s lead bartender, Tony Diiorio, known as Tony Negroni. The classic Italian trattoria located in the heart of downtown Sausalito is celebrating Negroni Week with a few signature drinks, along with playful variations, including the Tony Negroni (Bombay Sapphire Gin, Campari, Vermouth, served on rocks); Negroni Old Style (Gin, Bitter Campari, Red Vermouth, Soda Water); Cardinale (Gin, Bitter Campari, White Vermouth); Negrosky (Vodka, Bitter Campari, Red Vermouth); Negroni Sbagliato (Bitter Campari, Red Vermouth, Sparkling Wine); and the Dirty Negroni (Gin, Bitter Campari, Cinzano Bianco, Bitters). $1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to the Willow Creek Academy.

Bourbon Steak Santa Clara A unique evolution of Michael Mina’s award-winning, signature steakhouse, Bourbon Steak at Levi’s® Stadium is in keeping with the concept’s origins. The high-end, classic steakhouse is celebrating Negroni Week with two special cocktails: The Discreet Charm (Beefeater Gin, Punt E Mes, Carpano Antica, Dash Orange Bitters) and Suze Q (Hendricks Gin, Suze, Alessio Vermouth). Each cocktail is priced at $14 and $1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to Ladies of the Empire.

Perbacco Perbacco offers guests a modern and sophisticated setting to enjoy true Italian dishes and warm hospitality where Executive Chef/Owner Staffan Terje offers a menu focused on the refined cuisine of Piemonte. To celebrate Negroni Week, Perbacco will be serving their popular Negroni Caramel Corn with gin-spiced sea salt. Chef Staffan uses the classic Negroni cocktail to enhance his caramel popcorn, coating the exploded kernels with a caramel made with Campari and sweet vermouth. In place of the gin, he uses a salt with botanicals found in the spirit like juniper, coriander seed, cardamom and licorice root. The bar team serves classic and seasonal cocktails that complement the traditional Italian cuisine and for Negroni Week, will be serving four special cocktails: Old Tom Cat Negroni (Barr Hill Reserve Tom Cat American Oak Aged Gin, Campari, Carpano Antica Vermouth); Apple Brandy Negroni (Laird’s Apple Brandy, Campari, Carpano Antica Vermouth); Tequila Negroni Sour (Arette Blanco Tequila, Campari, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Agave Nectar, lime juice and egg white); Negroni Spritz (Beefeater Gin, Campari, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Prosecco) and $1 of every cocktail sold will be donated to Meals on Wheels.

Served in a sugar-rimmed coupe glass with an orange twist

1 oz Laird’s Apple Brandy
1 oz Campari
1 oz Carpano Antica Vermouth
4 dashes old fashion bitters
Served on the rocks with a flamed orange twist

Tequila Negroni Sour
1.5 oz Arette Blanco Tequila
1 oz Campari
1 oz Carpano Antica Vermouth
1/2 oz agave nectar
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 egg white
Shaken and served in a coupe glass with three drops of bitters on top
