Kaye CloutmanKaye Cloutman

Founder / Editor in Chief

Kaye has twelve years of experience in media, including writing for TV, radio and print, and working on the technical side of film, video editing, graphic design and digital art. Kaye is a self-confessed bookworm who practically grew up in a library. Her extensive knowledge of literature has allowed her to innately recognize a great story and understand how one is told. Though somewhat shy as a child,  her closest friends were growing up to become media celebrities and stars in Asia, so Kaye gained valuable experience both in seeing great stories translated to the big screen, as well as the symbiotic relationship between the media and the stars who relied on it for their livelihood.

Polishing her writing and editorial skills first at Philippine Graphic Publications, she then came to America and continued her support of Filipino talent here by creating a Blurb book, The Modern Balikbayan Bride,  to serve as a valuable resource to brides planning their weddings abroad in The Philippines.   Kaye has written for and done graphic layout work on a variety of magazines. During her tenure at a popular monthly book review, she established herself as a sought-after author interviewer, where she had the pleasure of speaking with a wide range of authors, from Jimmy Carter to Roseanne Barr, Jane Fonda, Sheryl Crow, Sammy Hagar, George RR Martin,  Justin Cronin, Ashley Judd, and others.  Also at this time, Kaye, being a “foodie” at heart, had the opportunity to meet and interview such culinary notables as Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Cat Cora, Tyler Florence, Guy Fieri, Michael Chiarello, Roland Passot, Marcus Samuelsson, Bobby Flay, Bradley Ogden, Alice Waters, Duff Goldman, Rick Bayless and others.  This fueled her passion for writing about and promoting the culinary arts and she has never looked back since. Kaye is a member of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals).

A strong supporter of women’s issues, Kaye has been a speaker for the Women’s Power Strategy conference, and received awards from the Philippines Department of Health. Keeping current with a far-flung roster of family, friends and business relationships has meant adapting to and mastering the latest trends in social networking and technology. In her networking with publishers, authors, media outlets and entrepreneurs, Kaye has established herself as a woman gifted with a rare talent for creating innovative new media properties and successful strategic partnerships. John CloutmanJohn Cloutman

Chief Operating Officer

John is an engineer at GoPro with 35 years’ experience in a variety of disciplines of technology. He also has enjoyed a career in music and event production, and has a diverse set of interests ranging from music to fly fishing and camping as well as motorsports, filmmaking and photography, technological innovation and startups. With family roots in colonial New England, John has lived all over the United States and loves to travel. Health, wellness and culinary arts have been a constant topic in his family as he grew up with a father occupied in industrial food preparation systems who kept current with the latest advances in nutrition and dietary science, and a mother who was a writer and archaeologist dabbling in the history of Central and South American native cultures. John attended Missouri Institute of Technology in Kansas City, Missouri and has had multiple patents awarded for advancements in video technology. You can reach him at

This premier photographer is the founder of The Candy Factory Studio and has received numerous awards and accolades for his work around the Bay Area. With more than 20 years experience in the fashion and lifestyle photography industry, it is no wonder why his works are constantly featured in major publications. His studio is a top choice for many talented stylists, makeup artists, designers and models for both portfolio development and creative services. Vincent is not only gifted with a good eye but an uncanny ability to bring out the inner Gods/Goddesses in his subjects. He also freely shares his gift, mentoring aspiring photographers and in so doing, showing everyone who comes in contact with him an elevated standard for excellence in the business. Eileen RogersEileen Solis Rogers

Managing Editor

Eileen is a full time mom to 2 girls. She occasionally engages in consulting work where she leverages her experience with start-ups and provides expertise to the financial services industry. Her passion for food and cooking stemmed from her childhood observing her mom, grandmothers and aunts in the kitchen. She loves to tweak recipes, especially those that have been passed down to her.

Cooking for her family and friends is her passion, and she has honed her skills in making dishes out of what ingredients are available. Lately, her focus has been on healthier eating options for her and her family. She has been pre-occupied experimenting with organic ingredients, making a concoction of salad dressings, smoothies, and healthy and fun snacks for her family. Eileen is known to dine at a fine restaurant and if she falls in love with a certain dish, she analyzes it and replicates it at home, almost always with great success. She is very involved with her kids’ school activities and often times volunteers at events where food is involved. She has a great appreciation for the arts and is an antique collector. Beverly ZeissFashion Director

Beverly Zeiss

Beverly started her professional career in San Diego in the medical field as a cardiac nurse. After raising her two children, Erin and Troy, she switched gears completely, moved to the Bay area and worked as a professional model and actor in commercials, TV and film. She moved to Orange County and created her own business, Savvy Productions, a network for the performing arts and then started venturing into fashion and special event production.

Through twists and turns along the way, she moved back to San Diego, and became the Fashion/PR Director for Saks Fifth Ave. as well as the director of the Fifth Avenue Club, a prestigious personal shopping service.

Beverly then became the Fashion Director for the high-end Paladion shopping center in San Diego, implementing events for retailers including Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nina Ricci, Gianni Versace, Alfred Dunhill, Baracci and more. From there, she moved back to Saks Fifth Ave., this time in South Coast Plaza, as their Fashion/PR/Marketing and Fifth Avenue Club Director.

With years of knowledge and incredible experience under her belt, she formed Red Haute & Co. and currently is contracted by Santana Row as Fashion/Consultant Director. Liz BernardoCulinary Director

Liz Garbes Bernardo

Liz grew up in the Philippines and graduated from the University of Asia and the Pacific with a BS degree in Information Technology. A sugar addict starting at a very young age, it was just a matter of time until she found herself in a chef’s jacket and kitchen clogs, studying Baking and Pastry Arts at the Center for Culinary Arts Manila. She took her apprenticeship in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia and was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to join international-based competitions such as the FHA Culinary Challenge Singapore and the MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge. Following her graduation, she then set on her new adventure to work for the Westin Resort Macau.

An unexpected love story brought her across oceans to the beautiful city of San Francisco. Soon after moving here in the Bay Area, she landed her dream job and now works at the Ritz-Carlton Half-Moon Bay as Pastry Chef de Partie. A self-confessed wanderlust, she has a strong desire to travel and experience the many diverse cuisines and food traditions of different cultures from around the globe. In addition to pastry arts, she is also very passionate with improving her craft in food photography and food writing. She hopes to inspire other people to appreciate and enrich their lives through her culinary journeys and experiences.

Josette Vigil Jelveh

“La Dolce Vita” is Josetteʼs life motto, she believes eating, looking and feeling beautiful are rituals everyone should apply to their daily life. A San Francisco native, foodie and cook, her palette reflects the eclectic influences that only the Bay Area offers; the abundance of fresh seafood and shellfish, organic produce, artisan baked goods and the finest wines. Of Italian heritage, she grew up making homemade Ravioli, Sausage, Cioppino and Cannoli with her family. Because of her surrounding influences; Chinese, Persian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Mexican cuisine have also influenced her palette and become part of her family’s food culture. She, her husband and kids are enthusiastic diners, they appreciate eating gourmet cuisine at some of the Bay Areaʼs finest restaurants just as much as finding that “diamond in the rough” restaurant whose simply-prepared food feeds your soul.

A design major in college, Josette pursues her love of design and applies the principles of design to her life passion, hair and makeup design. Her career of 18 years began in some of San Francisco’s most notable salons, including the infamous 77 Mainden Lane Salon, working on some of the most influential people in the area. She has found success as a freelance makeup and hair stylist and instructor. She found her niche and is an acclaimed editorial hair and makeup artist who has the privilege of collaborating with top photographers, designers and magazines from the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. You can reach her at

Annabelle PericinLifestyle Editor

Annabelle Marceno Pericin

Annabelle was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when she was thirteen years old.  She considers herself a California native transplant; She’s been in the Bay Area since 1978.

She’s a Journalism graduate from San Diego State University (SDSU) with an emphasis in Media and Advertising with a minor in Graphic Design. Annabelle worked in the Fashion & Beauty industry for over 10 years including Monet Jewelry, Lancome, Alfred Sung, and Bath & Body Works. She also went on to work in Silicon Valley for several high tech companies before starting a family.

She has always loved food and became a bonified foodie after having her first child. “I truly love looking for the latest kitchen gadget to use with new and innovative recipes or watching the latest and tastiest ways to cook a dish on the Cooking Channel and the Food Network. I enjoy cooking for my family and friends. Creating and presenting delicious foods for them to enjoy is my motivation” she adds. Annabelle currently lives in Loomis, a suburb  of Sacramento, with her husband Mark and two sons, Dominic and Dante. “I’m discovering all the great food, lifestyle, and wine experiences the Sacramento area has to offer and am excited to take on this role for GEV!”

Genevieve DeeEvents Editor

Genevieve Dee

Training in her chosen profession of dentistry brought Genevieve to the San Francisco Bay Area. Since then, the Bay Area captured her heart and has been her residence. With her dental practice in San Mateo, Genevieve has been helping families for 20 years and counting! Health and wellness have always been constants in her life. With exercise and healthy living a priority, you can find her doing yoga and cardio-kickboxing at the gym or running outdoors. With a passion for food since her youth, she has been fortunate to enjoy the abundance of various cuisines while growing up in Asia, traveling the world and in the San Francisco Bay Area. She enjoys trying new restaurants with her 2 sons, exposing them to new flavors and expanding their palates. Food and travel have allowed her to indulge in her love of learning and exploration. Her latest destination was Angkor Wat, Cambodia. Whether it’s the museum or an outdoor activity, elegant or casual and poised, Gean, as her friends call her, is always up for any adventure. Kathryn BesserKathryn Besser

When a Silicon Valley fashion and lifestyle magazine branded her “the party evangelist” in a profile story, it perfectly captured Kathryn’s sensibilities for connecting people through delicious food and drink, warm company and when appropriate, philanthropy.

Today, she’s officially The Party Evangelist as the founder of an event planning company that conceptualizes and throws the perfect party for corporations and individuals who yearn for memorable touches and sophisticated themes for their events.

Parties have been in Kathryn’s DNA since she was young. Growing up outside Washington, D.C., Kathryn created elegant French crepe parties for her friends and dreamed of being a world traveler. Over the years, her parties grew in number and attendance and she lived abroad from time to time in Poland, Italy, Sweden and Belgium. She continues to travel, both abroad and across the U.S.  Her story on culinary discoveries in Madrid appeared in the August issue of GEV.
