Tamara GormanTamara Strasser

Lifestyle Correspondent

Tamara focuses on the exciting world of exceptional people and exclusive places, writing about their activities, their tastes, and their celebrated accomplishments and how they shape the world in which we live. The U.C. Davis graduate spent 15 years in the beauty industry as a fashion model and consultant before moving behind the camera as a cultural anthropologist. Living and traveling throughout Mexico, she studied the people and culture learning and writing about their food, style, art, and all other aspects which make up a culture. Upon returning to the U.S., Tamara turned her attention once again to Northern California. Having developed close relationships and friendships with Napa Valley chefs and winemakers, Tamara fell in love with the area and romance of the wine industry. Taking classes in one of the top viticulture and enology schools, she found the field to be a perfect blend of science, art, food, entertainment, and travel.

For the past 13 years, she has been on a quest to become as healthy as possible while learning as much as she can about food and fashion. “I truly believe they both shape our bodies and are rich media for studying the symbolic nature of self-awareness and cultural interaction.” Tamara is currently interested in the emergence of a “foodie” nation and a growing movement to eliminate those things we deem bad for us (nitrates, high fructose corn syrup, glutens, etc.). “We are learning to appreciate where our food comes from again, but how far are most of us willing to go? Understanding what organic means doesn’t mean we’re ready to embrace everything.” She lives on Folsom Lake in Granite Bay with her son, two dogs, and two cats.

Rey Del FierroRey Del Fierro

Lifestyle Photojournalist

Since college, Rey Del Fierro has been an avid photography enthusiast documenting all precious life moments through photos. He also adds that working with film back then really gave him the patience and discipline to capture images with the desired lighting and the appropriate time which brings out their “je ne sais quoi”. Work and family life eventually took over and it wasn’t until a few years ago that Rey found himself picking up a camera again. Initially working with landscapes and still life photography, he found much pleasure in taking with him a memory provided by Mother Nature. It was also during this time that he felt he needed to really embrace his passion for this craft so Rey started to become an active participant in photography meetup groups around the Bay Area. It was the exact break he need from his day job.

In a short time, Rey had soaked as much wisdom from talented photographers as he could and considered them as vital mentors. This gave him an opportunity to become fully immersed with the local fashion industry. Nowadays you’ll see Rey traipsing about with his camera covering local fashion, food and wine events, but it’s his concert coverage we love the most. He adds, “I have a special place in my heart for music and make it a point to watch about 20 concerts a year. There’s something magical about a live performance. I enjoy listening to the radio but concerts allow you to interact with the artists and learn more about the story behind each song. That’s what I hope to capture through my photos and it gives me so much joy to be able to share them with the world.”

Currently the lead singer for an SF-based cover band, Christina can be found rocking venues including the Fillmore, Hard Rock and AT&T Park.

Her day-job as VP of Marketing & Business Development for Froomz (an online venue marketplace), where she is responsible for nurturing relationships with customers and partners in the event, entertainment, hospitality and tech community, continues to challenge her strategic/analytical side.

Long suffering from wanderlust, she has visited 16 countries in the last 20 years, and fully intends to eat her way through the seven continents. Follow her on Twitter @XtinaDunham.

A San Jose native, Rod graduated with a BS in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. Though his work as a cancer researcher is rewarding, he has always been a student of the arts. Rod is a classically trained pianist through the tutelage of Ophelia Raboca and a sound engineer. Music had to take a side step as larger life events took place, so he picked up his father’s Nikon FM and started shooting film. Visually, his eye became a different storyteller through the lens. What once was documenting his growing family turned into weddings, family portraits, runway shows, fashion shoots, and published editorials. Life is his canvas and his brush is his lens.
